Your spouse or partner, minor children, adult children who depend on you financially and have not formed a family of their own, and dependent parents can join or accompany you (art. 62).

QUESTIONS

Before you move.

Is there still a golden visa in Spain?
No. The residence visa for investors was abolished with effect from 3 April 2025 (Organic Law 1/2025). Investors who want to live in Spain now apply through another route, such as the entrepreneur route under Law 14/2013, as highly qualified professionals or through non-lucrative residence.
How long does a highly qualified or intra-company transfer permit take?
Under Law 14/2013 a decision must be issued within 20 working days of the electronic application to the Large Companies and Strategic Groups Unit (UGE-CE). If none is issued, the authorisation is deemed granted by administrative silence (art. 76).
Can my family move with me?
Yes. Your spouse or partner, minor children, adult children who depend on you financially and have not formed a family of their own, and dependent parents can apply together with you or join you later, provided they also meet the general requirements (Law 14/2013, art. 62).
Will I pay Spanish tax on my worldwide income after moving?
A Spanish tax resident is taxed on worldwide income. Under the Beckham regime (Personal Income Tax Law, art. 93), a newcomer who was not resident in Spain in the previous five years and moves because of an employment contract, a directorship or an entrepreneurial activity can opt to be taxed under non-resident rules in the year of the move and the next five, at 24% on employment income up to €600,000 and 47% above that.
